Meat and potatoes

Meat - Tenerife It is a traditional dish in every Tenerife house and in Canary Islands. As many people prepared it there are different kinds of preparation for this dish.


  • 1 kg of beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes
  • garlic
  • 1 big pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 twig of thyme
  • 1 glass of white wine
  • spoonful of paprika
  • 2 carrots
  • Water
  • 1 kg of potatoes


1. Cut the meat in cubes and season them with salt and pepper after that fry each side lightly. Place another sauce pan into the fire and use the same oil that you used for the meat, prepare the sauce with onion, tomato and pepper, all them sliced and add some slither of garlic.

2. When the sauce is almost cooked add the bay leaves and thyme when you remove the pan from the flame and add a pitch of paprika. Return the pan with meat to the flame and add a little wine and water.

3. Some seconds later add the sauce to the pan and add a few slices of carrot. Cover the pan and bring the mixture to the boil and remove from the heat. Taste if it is necessary to add salt and continue stewing, add the potatoes previously sliced, the same side as the meat that has been fried before.

Serve it hot and enjoy!
