Teide National Park

Parque Nacional - Tenerife Besides its many beaches, historical buildings, magnificent monuments and breathtaking cliffs, Tenerife has many other tourist attractions to offer, among which we can mention The Teide National Park that is definitely one of the most important parks; itís among the biggest andmost amazing of the island, and is located in the center of the Island of Tenerife.

This region was declared as a National park on January 22, 1954 in order to protect this spectacular landscape of great ecological value at the foot of the colossal volcano. The park itself lies at around 6,562 feet (2,000 meters) above sea level and covers an area of approximately 18,990 hectares where one can find a large variety of Plants and animals.

Teide - Tenerife The main attraction is undoubtedly el Teide,Spainís largest volcano. El Teide> isan ancient and gigantic cauldron-shaped depression formed by two semi-calderas divided by the Roques de GarcŪa rock formations. There are many plants surrounding the volcano, such as the Teide white broom, the Canary Island wallflower and the Teidebugloss;like the plants, many of the animal species are unique in the world.

Currently, this area is one of the most visited not only by tourist, but also by locals. Due to its great importance, this park was also declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on June 29, 2007. The trip to The Teide National Park could be definitely an unforgettable experience.
