The Mount Teide is a big volcano in the island of Tenerife. The Pico del Teide (Teide Peak) is the biggest part of the volcano complex that includes the Montaña Blanca and Pico Viejo. This Volcano is the third highest in the planet and it has the highest peak in Spain with 3718 meters. The Teide was designated as the Decade Volcano by the United Nations.

The singular name of this natural formation derives from the Guanche Language that means “hell” in English and “infierno” in Spanish. According to local legends, there is an evil and destructor Guatoya spirit inside the volcano.
