La Laguna

Tenerife is one of the most beautiful and amazing Canary Islands. Ithas much to offer. La Laguna is located in the northern part of the island of Tenerife. It covers an area of approximately 102.6 Km, and with about 150.661 inhabitants, it is one of the most populated cities of the region. Due to its beauty, on December 2 1999, UNESCO declared La Laguna a World Heritage region; this has greatly contributed to its economic and social development.

La Laguna has a beautiful old town and beautiful monuments, historic buildings, and important commercial centers where you can buy a large variety of souvenirs, crafts and typical gastronomic products. Among the most important monuments we can mention “the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios”, “the Iglesia Matriz de la Concepción” and “The Real Santuario Del Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna”.

Apart from its historical buildings, La Laguna is also knowfor its festivities, one of the most important is definitely The Romería de San Benito Abad celebrated in early July, where one can enjoy a large number of carts pulled by oxen, folk groups and of course the typical region’s cuisine such as Frangollo, Puchero Canario and Gofio.
